Ambassadors for Christ

Brand ambassadors have made a noticeable impact on society. Mainly through social media, these influencers share recommendations on makeup, hair products, cleaning supplies, and their favorite outfits among other items. Brand ambassadors have changed the way we identify valuable products and made it easy to purchase them with the click of a mouse or tap on a screen. One thing is for sure, brand ambassadors are doing their job. We know exactly what they represent!

I’m afraid the same might not be true for Christians. Would those in your circles of influence know you are a Christian and living for King Jesus? Scripture calls us ambassadors for Christ:

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.” He made the one who did not know sin to be sin[e] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Cor. 5: 20-21

The Apostle Paul who wrote 2 Corinthians tells readers we have a role to play in representing Jesus Christ. Christians are to act on behalf of God, helping people far from Christ know Him as Savior. Our message is not halfhearted, apathetic, or unimportant. Rather, we plead on Christ’s behalf with an urgency to our message. Be reconciled to God!

Christ had the power to reconcile us to himself because of His sinless nature. Only because He was sinless, could he bear the sins of others. He exchanged His righteousness for our sin. We cannot reconcile anyone to Christ because we are not holy and sinless like Jesus Christ, but we can share the message of hope and salvation!

Our role as an ambassador is more than a “brand ambassador.” We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World! Our message is life-changing with eternal implications. So how can women represent Christ with excellence?

1.      When others look to you for truth, plead on behalf of Jesus Christ. Share the life-changing message of the gospel. 1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to be “ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

2.      Be aware of those in your circles of influence. Identify Christ-following women who can lock arms with you on the faith journey. Identify women who are far from Christ and who need to hear the gospel message. Keep your eyes open “as you go” about your daily tasks. The Lord will place people in your path on purpose for a purpose!

3.      Be tenacious! Don’t grow weary or discouraged following Christ. The Apostle Paul wasn’t going to allow anyone to derail his message of salvation through Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 17:7 encourages us that “the person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed.”

God could have chosen anyone to share his message – and He’s chosen us! For this time, for this place, so that all may know!
